'Glee' cast pay tribute to Amy Winehouse
The cast of Fox musical comedy Glee have paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse.
The 'Back to Black' singer was found dead by police yesterday at her home in North London, following which tributes have been pouring in from across the world.
Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz told MTV News at the San Diego Comic-Con: "She's paved the way for so many artists, so at least every artist can pay homage to her in some way. Hopefully they will. It's just so tragic, she was so young and so talented."
Newly-promoted cast member Darren Criss also spoke of his admiration for the singer's career, claiming that she was responsible for helping bring soul music back to pop.
"She definitely brought back a lot of soul to mainstream, and it's really unfortunate to see her go, but I think she'll live on in other artists who will follow [with] the same soul," he said.
Dot Marie Jones, best known as McKinley High's Coach Beiste, said that she hopes the nature of Winehouse's death does not overshadow her musical accomplishments.
"I hope everybody focuses on what she did and did so well, and not the tragedy," Jones added. "[Aged] 27, it's really sad."
